Renee Zellweger joins Werner Herzog on Berlin jury

BBC News
Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger will sit on the international jury at this year's Berlin Film Festival, its organisers have announced.
The 40-year-old, who won an Academy Award in 2004 for Cold Mountain, will serve alongside jury president Werner Herzog and five other panellists.
They include Chinese actress Yu Nan, Somali novelist Nuruddin Farah and Italian director Francesca Comencini.
The 60th Berlin Film Festival runs from 11 to 21 February 2010.
Highlights this year include Roman Polanski's drama The Ghost Writer, which he has been completing under house arrest Switzerland, and Martin Scorsese's thriller Shutter Island.
Zellweger's appointment follows her appearance in My One and Only, which contested for the Golden Bear award at last year's festival.
German actress Cornelia Froboess and Spanish producer Jose Maria Morales complete the Berlin jury, chaired last year by actress Tilda Swinton.
Last year the festival's top prize went to The Milk of Sorrow, the first Peruvian film to compete at this prestigious event.

Added more images from Renee's appearance last week at the Elle's Women in Hollywood Tribute.
Alec Baldwin Channels His Feminine Side

People.com By Scott Huver
With some of Hollywood's most talented, glamorous and iconic females assembled in one room for Elle Magazine's 16th Annual Women in Hollywood tribute, it seemed next to impossible for a man to steal the show. But Alec Baldwin did just that, leaving the ladies rolling in the aisles while serving as the event's first male host.
During Baldwin's Dean Martin-esue stint at the dais, he had the largely female audience women – including Katie Holmes, Renée Zellweger, Emily Blunt, Julianne Moore, Robin Wright and Julie Andrews – shrieking with laughter as he took aim at a variety of topics.
Noting that movie actresses are so skinny that if he had a love scene "I would crush them," Baldwin, 51, revealed that his pal Zellweger "is so tiny, but she's got a big voice. I've been to parties with her and you can hear her voice anywhere, but you can't understand a word she says."
He then proceeded to imitate her with an booming but indecipherable Southern twang that had Zellweger doubled over at her table.
Renée Zellweger: Bridget Jones III Is Just a Rumor

Renée Zellweger will not be plumping up again any time soon, people.
Despite recent reports claim that the Oscar winner has agreed to do a third Bridget Jones movie, Ms. Zellweger tells me it's not true: She hasn't signed on for another go-round.
"I get asked every single day, and I don't know anything," she told me at Elle magazine's Women in Hollywood event. "It's a rumor."
As for the reported fat suit she'll be wearing (instead of actual poundage), she quipped, "Oh, goody! When are we having the fitting?"
Hey, if another movie doesn't work out, there's also a stage musical that's reportedly being developed around her unlucky-in-love Brit girl alter ego.
Would Zellweger consider it? Read on to find out...
"I haven't been asked, [but] I think that would be weird," she said. "Do you think that would be weird?"
Not really. She's already impressed us with her song and dance capabilities in Chicago.
"Yeah, but are you going to put my schedule together?" Zellweger laughed. "When am I going to see my parents? When am I going to go on a date? When am I going to have Christmas?"
And then there's the all-consuming renovation of her apartment. Zellweger said she's in the middle of renovating her pad. "I haven't had the nervous breakdown yet, and I haven't been committed," she said. "That's no small miracle."
She's even getting inspiration from HGTV-like home design shows. "At the gym, I'll turn it on, where they fix the house," Zellweger said. "I do! I go to the treadmill, and you can choose between, like, the Yankees and the Angels game or you can watch some guy in Australia buying a new apartment, and you want to see what he's going to buy."

Shock to You Drop
On the eve of his second American film's release, Pandorum, director Christian Alvart will finally see his Case 39 reach the U.S.
Paramount Pictures has set a January 1, 2010 debut.
Starring Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane and Bradley Cooper, the film - penned by The Crazies' Ray Wright, follows a social worker who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents only to discover that the girl is not as innocent as she thinks.
Case 39 doesn't face any genre competition that day, but Lionsgate's Daybreakers hits the following week. After Carriers and Paranormal Activity - the latter release earlier this month and the latter opening this week - I think that about does it as far as delayed genre titles sitting on the Paramount shelf.
I searched for an issue with Renee on the cover, but everywhere I went both covers I would find featured Katie Holmes. So if anyone has the Renee cover and would scan it for me I would be so grateful!
But until then we have the scans ... and she looks gorgeous!
